Making a difference

Barry Mochan

Barry is the Chief Executive Officer of Glasgow Together. Barry grew up in construction from a young age spending summer holidays on his father’s building sites. Having attained his honours degree in Business, Barry joined the police service, working in a variety of challenging roles in Glasgow City.

After nearly nine years in post Barry moved back into the construction field obtaining his Construction Management qualification at the City of Glasgow College. Since then Barry has delivered over £150 million in property refurbishment and new build projects as well as qualifying as both a Project and Programme Manager, leading large teams and working with a variety of private and public sector clients on high profile projects including the Glasgow Housing Association and Renfrewshire Council Scottish Housing Quality Standard delivery. Further to this, Barry has completed a large number of property developments on his own behalf and has specialised in locating gap sites which can be adapted for affordable housing new builds.

Barry has always found the work he undertakes to be much more fulfilling where it is beneficial to the community and in particular to those who could be perceived as being most in need of assistance. This has led him to target roles where his experience can be used to deliver real and measurable improvements to people’s lives. Barry feels that the Glasgow Together model is the perfect project to channel his years of experience, and large network of contacts, towards those who need it most.
